Answers written at troubleshooting depth.

Every article here explains the actual cause, not just a setting to toggle. If something looks wrong on your storefront, it's very likely covered below.

Setup & go-live

Business category, default unit, connecting a variant option vs. a metafield, and the difference between a template and a rule.

Where does Storely read sizes from?

From a product variant option (recommended), or a product metafield you choose. Set this once in Setup → Connect fields.

Does Storely support cm and inches?

Yes. Set your default unit in Business defaults, and turn on the storefront unit switcher in Design Studio if you want shoppers to switch it themselves.

How does the optional Age field work?

If your store has an age-group field (like "2–3Y"), connect it once and Storely shows it next to sizes automatically — no second app needed.

Will this slow down my store?

No. Storely renders through a standard Shopify theme app extension and embeds chart data directly in the page — it doesn't add a heavy third-party script to every page load.

Do I need a developer to install it?

No. Setup is a guided flow inside the app, and adding the chart to your theme is a drag-and-drop block in the Theme Editor.

What's the difference between a template and a rule?

A template is the chart itself. A rule is an optional condition that makes a template apply itself automatically to matching products, instead of you linking each one by hand.

Templates & rules

Building a template, how rule matching works, and why a rule-applied chart is locked on individual products.

Why can't I edit this chart directly on the product?

Rule-applied charts are intentionally locked on individual products so a bulk rule doesn't silently drift out of sync per product. Edit the template — which cascades to every product it applies to — or remove the rule assignment for that one product if it genuinely needs to be different.

Can I paste sizes in from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Both the template builder and the per-product editor accept a direct copy-paste from Excel or Google Sheets.

What happens if two rules could match the same product?

The most recently updated rule template wins. A chart you set by hand is never overwritten by a rule.

I excluded a product from a rule — will it ever get that chart?

No. Exclusions always win, even if the product matches every other condition.

Mapping station

What the Mapping station is, why products get flagged, and how to clear a backlog in bulk instead of one product at a time.

What is the Mapping station?

A panel on your Products page that groups anything Storely couldn't confidently finish on its own — so you can review and fix several products at once instead of hunting them down one by one.

Why did some of my products end up needing review?

Usually one of: a linked template was deleted, your connected size field returned an empty or unusable value, a size didn't have a matching row, or a size matched more than one product variant. The panel tells you exactly which.

Do I have to review every flagged product individually?

No. Most flags can be cleared in bulk with Approve shown or Approve eligible — only a few, like a deleted template, need a quick manual fix first.

I approved a product but it still shows as needing review.

This should clear immediately — refresh the Products page if it doesn't.

Design Studio

Presentation modes, brand color, table layout modes, and publishing a preset.

The size table looks cramped or cut off on some products

Design Studio has two table layout modes: dynamic, which shrinks columns to fit, and scroll, which adds horizontal scrolling with a sticky first column. Charts with many measurement columns — footwear with US/EU/UK/foot-length, for example — usually look better in scroll mode.

I changed something in Design Studio but the storefront didn't update.

Editing a preset only saves a draft. Go back in, open the preset, and click Publish — that's the step that actually pushes it live.

Can I use my own CSS or JavaScript?

Yes, from Design Studio → Developer. It runs directly on your storefront, so only add code you've reviewed and trust.

Can different products have different styles?

Not currently — one published Design Studio look applies shop-wide.

Storefront & add-to-cart

Theme block installation, mobile behavior, and what happens when a shopper adds to cart from inside the chart.

My size chart isn't showing on a product page.

Check three things: a template is linked to the product, the Storely block is added in Theme Editor for that product's template, and a Design Studio look is published.

A product shows "size unclear" or won't let a shopper add to cart.

Storely couldn't confidently match the selected size to one specific product variant. Re-saving the product's variant options usually fixes it.

Does add-to-cart work for products with more than one option, like size and color?

Yes — Storely shows a follow-up picker so the shopper can finish choosing before adding to cart.

Troubleshooting

I edited a template but the storefront still shows the old version.

This is expected — template edits can take 1–6 minutes to appear due to CDN caching. Product-specific edits are never cached and update immediately.

Some products aren't picking up a chart even though a rule should match them.

Double-check the rule's conditions against the product's actual tags, vendor, type, or collection — and check the exclude list.

I got an error saying Storely "could not load."

Refresh the page — it's almost always a temporary connection hiccup. If it keeps happening, contact support with the page and rough time.

Account, data & billing

What happens on uninstall, and current pricing.

How much does it cost?

Storely Size is free today. We haven't finalized paid plans yet.

Will I be charged more for adding products or templates?

No — there's no usage-based charge for products, templates, or charts.

What happens to my data if I uninstall?

Your Storely account data (templates, presets, settings) is removed. Anything already written to your Shopify product data stays in place, and reinstalling can recover it.

Does uninstalling remove the charts from my storefront?

The chart stops working once the app is removed, since Storely is what serves it. Remove the Storely block from Theme Editor afterward for a fully clean theme.

AI Fit Recommender

An upcoming feature that suggests a size to shoppers based on your chart.

What is it?

An optional feature that asks shoppers a couple of quick questions and suggests a size based on your chart.

Is it available now?

It's still rolling out — you won't see it in your dashboard until it's ready. Nothing to set up in the meantime.
